Cassandra Cotton: Research Design & Data Analysis

Cassandra is a PhD candidate in sociology and population dynamics at McGill University. Cassandra has supervised qualitative data collection, and conducted both qualitative and quantitative analyses, on a diverse range of data sets from across sub-Saharan Africa. Cassandra's project and research experience includes work on child health and well-being, adolescent transitions to adulthood, sexual and reproductive health, refugee and returnee populations, and internal migration in East Africa. Cassandra has a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations  from Mount Allison University and a Certificate in Development Leadership from the Coady International Institute.

Celia Bray: Peace Building & Reconciliation 

Celia is a Nairobi-based consultant and CEO of Omni One International. As a qualified psychologist, she has over ten years' experience working with governments, private enterprises and NGOs. She has run high-profile projects with the UN, Global Peace Foundation and local NGOs. Celia’s vision is one of 'Individuals and communities as the source of their own future,' developing programs that enable communities to identify solutions that work within a localised context. Celia has worked in restorative justice and reconciliation processes. She facilitates workshops and training in youth empowerment, trauma healing, stress management, acceptance & commitment therapy, and life coaching.

Emma Norris: Policy Development, Governance & Social Research

Emma holds a BA Hons from Oxford University and a Certificate of Higher Education in Economics from the London School of Economics. She has extensive experience in public policy development, governance and social research in Europe, East Africa and Asia. Over the past seven years she has worked at the Institute for Government, the Institute for Public Policy Research and the Office for Public Management. She has undertaken consultancy for Rwanda's Institute for Public Policy Analysis and Research (IPAR), Oxfam, the United Nations and the India-based Centre for Human Rights and Democracy. Emma is experienced in policy design, implementation and central government capacity development.

Dominic Ruhangayebare: Project Development & Compliance

Dominic has extensive experience in compliance, grants coordination, and project monitoring & evaluation. Over the past seven years he has worked with international organisations including Oxfam Novib, the World Bank’s Youth2Youth initiative, the German Foundation for World Population and the Netherlands Development Cooperation (SNV). Dominic’s project experience has covered a wide range of topics including solar energy, HIV/AIDS prevention and women’s health. He is currently working on a number of projects with bSpace, conducting market research analysis and value chain propositioning. Dominic divides his time between Kampala and Kigali, bringing a business-minded approach to risk assessment, budget compliance, and  project efficiency.

Elizabeth Mbau: Agriculture & M&E

Elizabeth is a programme management specialist with experience in the agriculture sector in East Africa. She is skilled in project planning and implementation, and M&E systems. She has worked with Ecom Agroindustrial on sustainability, encompassing gender equity and environmental conservation, in coffee-growing regions in Kenya. As an M&E Consultant, she has provided project support in the tea and coffee sectors in Rwanda, Uganda and Kenya, and has extensive donor-reporting experience including USAID, Tchibo, Zoegas (Nestle), IDH and BMGF. She is passionate about revitalising the coffee sector in the region, and is on the look-out for opportunities to build strong producer groups and thriving food-processing businesses.

Ella Mutuyimana: Multimedia at Gazella Pictures

Ella is the Director of Gazella Pictures. After graduating from KIS in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering she went on to work as the Art Director on Clementine Dusabejambo's movie Lyza (2011). Her production company brings together the best in Rwandan filmography, from scriptwriting and stoaryboarding through to sound production and editing. They won the Goethe Institut Kigali Gender-based Violence Prize in 2012 for Strength in Fear, the Haraka! short film competition for Ma Vie en Rue, and the African Media Initiative documentary challenge with The Mushroom Revolution. Gazella Pictures has exhibited at Clermont-ferrand, Zanzibar and Durban International Film Festivals.

Eva Treer: Tourism Product & Strategy Development

Holding an MA in Tourism, Eva has a wealth of international experience across Africa, Europe and Asia. She has experience of hotel management, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Events) and the cruise ship industry. Her expertise lies in tourism product development, strategic planning and project management. Eva has also carried out diverse tourism projects for VisitDenmark, the German Association of the Promotion of International Tourism, and the World Bank-Nepal Government. Currently, Eva is working on a community-based tourism project at Nyamirambo Women’s Center, a grassroots NGO in Kigali which aims to empower vulnerable women.

Juventine Mujawase: Translation & Research Facilitation  

Juventine is an experienced research assistant who has directly contributed to research papers with Oxford University, Stanford University, Edinburgh University and the University of Nebraska Lincoln. She is also an associate of Ishya Consulting, covering topics including Gender-based Violence, Maternity Care, HIV/AIDs and Children's Social Transition in Rwanda. Juventine is an experienced translator between English, French, Swahili and Kinyarwanda.

Marilyn Howard: Social Protection, Policy Development, Equality Analysis

Marilyn is a qualified social worker with a law degree and social policy MPhil. Her core expertise lies in disability and women’s issues, including welfare reform and understanding equality impacts. Marilyn is a member of the UK's Social Research Association, having worked in the Department for Work and Pensions, the Office for Disability Issues, and the Disability Rights Commission. Her clients have included the International Social Security Association, Mathematica Policy Research, Indecon Consulting, UK Institute for Public Policy Research, Fawcett Society, Child Poverty Action Group, the Joseph Rowntree Foundation an the Governments of Japan and New Zealand.

Martin Price: Social Enterprise

Dr Martin Price is the author of Social Enterprise: What it is and Why it Matters. He has worked as a consultant since 1996 providing advice and training to NGOs, community organisations, cooperatives and social enterprises. He has been a Board member of the UK’s Institute of Fundraising, The Development Trusts Association Wales, Diverse Cymru, and Chair of Social Firms Wales. He has also been a member of the BBC Charity Advisory Forum. Martin has recently been involved with the Wales Ireland Social Entrepreneurs Network, a major European Union funded project. Before becoming a consultant he worked for The Prince’s Trust, The Office of HRH the Prince of Wales, and Business in the Community.

Pascal Gahire: Agriculture & Food Security

Pascal holds an MA in Management of Development from Van Hall Larenstein University, specialising in Rural Development and Food Security. Pascal has worked for eight years at district level with local government authorities in Rwandan, establishing and monitoring farmers’ cooperatives and strategically linking farmers to a market-oriented economy. He has been strongly involved in Rwanda's Local Development Support Fund (RLDSF) as Programs and Projects Specialist, working in Kicukiro district as Cooperatives Development Officer and Rwamagana district in charge of Agriculture, Livestock and Natural Resources.

Stacie Gobin: Public Health

Stacie is a Moshi-based consultant with extensive experience in public health and research ethics across Africa and Asia. Over the past eight years she has worked with organizations including USAID, DFID, WHO, the Global Fund, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, University Research Co., Kilimanjaro Christian Medical University Center, and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Stacie’s project experience has covered a range of technical areas including maternal and child health, malaria, clean cookstoves, resilience, mental health, and community health. She has also served as an adjunct faculty member teaching courses in research ethics, design and evaluation of public health programs, and healthcare ethics.
